Château de Versailles

I woke up early today super excited about the fact that I would be going to visit the Château de Versailles.  I have always wanted to see how royalty lived and I certainly wasn't disappointed in the least!  I saw the palace right when I turned the corner and there was probably still another kilometre before I could actually get to the building!  I arrived at 11am and the queue for tickets were already out…

Along the Seine

I had all day to wander along the Seine today and it was a gorgeous day out with a light breeze:  Perfect for a day of exploration.  So I decided to walk to the Eiffel Tower.  I was warned that it would be a long trek but I wasn't worried.  I knew that if I followed the river eventually I would get there. A short while after I started my trek, I saw it.  To…

Bonjour de Paris!

After all those months of preparation I am still in awe of the fact that I am walking around in the streets of Paris.  Despite the fact that my flight was delayed for more than an hour in Houston yesterday, my friend Leana's cousin, Avmeric, took us on a guided tour of the city. Our first stop was Notre Dame Cathedral.  Along the way it started to pour down rain.  It was a good thing…

George Bush Intercontinental Airport

I serious thought I was going to miss my flight this morning.  There were an incredible amount of people just trying to check in.  Only a handful of the self service kiosks were working so that didn't help matters and when I tried to use one, it said that I had to see a clerk.  I figured I had to anyways because I had a backpack to check.  Long story short, it was just one line up after the next: long waits for the check in, even longer wait for security, then having to go to overflow security (on the…

As my friends will tell you, I have a sweet tooth.  Ok perhaps one single sweet tooth might not be enough.  I have sweet teeth.  I absolutely adore sweet foods.  If I wasn't worried about getting diabetes or become overly obsess, I probably would just eat sweets for ever meal.  My all time favourite dessert is apple pie and any variation of apple pie.  Preferably with vanilla ice cream.  This is exactly what I had…

McCarran Airport

Each airport is unique and McCarran is no different.  There are slot machines neatly placed in the centre, easily accessible by incoming and outgoing guests.  McCarran Airport offers incoming travellers an appetizer of what the Strip has to offer and while most people are tired after flying, some will sit down at the slot machines and try their luck.  One never knows, maybe the progressive slot machine will hit the jackpot.  For the departing, it is might offer one last chance to reclaim what was lost.  Just don't forget to redeem your tickets before you board your flight!  No matter…

My Best Friend Jen

It has been years since the last time I came to Las Vegas and I've sure missed it!  Flying in last night I could see all the lights from the hotels lighting up the sky.  Just thinking of the kinds of glamourous parties, high stakes gambling, and other sorts of debauchery going on in Sin City was enough to keep the imagination going for hours.  But instead I was focused on seeing my best friend.…

San Francisco International Airport

After seeing some friends and attending a birthday party it is time to leave San Francisco.  I have just checked in at San Francisco International Airport and this terminal is larger and busier than Vancouver.  There are three domestic terminals plus the international terminal with a tram connecting them in a circular loop.  It seems like the airports that I've visited so far have all been modern in design utilizing metal and glass.  While SFO may not be the busiest airport in America, I don't know if I want to be going through security here during the day.  The wait…

My friend got hit up to to do an engagement photo shoot for a friend of his and was recruited to help him out and give some advice as well as be his "assistant".  The site that the couple chose was a beautiful area known as Lands End.  However, the weather here in San Francisco is very unpredictable.  Something that is almost certain is fog.  Lets just say, today the fog rolled in HEAVY.  Not…
