Welcome to Brugge Welcome to Brugge Ken Ku

Today I decided to take a day trip to Brugge (Bruges) because it is only an hour away by train.  But more importantly, it is a very beautiful city to walk around and admire.  When I got out of the train station in Brugge, I was suddenly reminded of Vancouver.  There was a park with a path leading towards the centre of the old town that is tree lined and the leaves have started to change colours.  It is the first time during my trip that I have felt a little home sick but that feeling didn't last long.  I rounded a corner and walked down a cobblestone path that lead me towards the Canals of Bruges.

When I came to Belgium I knew there where some things that I had to try: waffles and chocolate.  Later I was told that I also had to try the fries with sauce and beer.  Well I had Belgian beer yesterday for lunch, and it was delicious.  As well as hot chocolate.  It was pretty good though maybe I could find a better place to get one that will actually make me quiver.  (Marcus, you're going to have to tell me where you got yours!)  So today I decided it would be a day that tried a bunch of different Belgian foods.

I started out with the fries.  I walked around and was able to find a place that had a long line up so I figured it had to be either well known or it was good.  It was small and basically looked like a small burger joint.  I ordered medium fries with andalouse sauce.  Andalouse sauce is basically mayonnaise with tomato paste, finely chopped onions, green and red peppers, and lemon juice.  Quite delicious if I might say so.  There were other sauces that I didn't try them all.  One was rich enough for me.  For the less adventurous person, there is always ketchup, mayonnaise, or mustard.  For the more adventurous, try the Samurai sauce.  That is extremely spicy mayo.

After that I went on the hunt for chocolate.  There are so many artisan chocolate stores, 49 boutiques to be exact, that I had a difficult time deciding.  I didn't really know where to go so I just wandered around the town and ended up at Depla Chocolatiers.  On their door it said they participated in the Shanghai Expo so it had to be pretty good.  I bought a couple marzipan filled chocolates and then watched one of the chocolatiers make some lollipops.  Very interesting to see for sure!  Though I couldn't stay there long because I was too tempted to just put my finger under the chocolate fountain.

I explored the town more and there was a man making waffles and cough drops so naturally I bought a bag of cherry flavoured cough drops and a chocolate covered waffle.  I've never been a huge waffle person so I don't know what the big deal is with Belgian waffles.  If someone knows, please tell me what makes Belgian waffles better than waffles made elsewhere.  I think they all taste the same.  However, I was still hungry after all this so I walked around more looking for something else to eat and I happened upon this bakery and bought a feta and spinach quiche to go.  I took it with me to the square and sat down for an impromptu picnic.  It was definitely a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Brugge.

I do trust all the ideas you have offered on your post. They're
really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for beginners.
Could you please prolong them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.

Great blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I'm planning to start my own blog
soon but I'm a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for
a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed ..
    Any recommendations? Many thanks!
