Today started off fairly uneventful, woke up late and had the abundant free breakfast that the hostel always has available from 9 to 11 in the morning.  Today I decided to so something different.  I had two hardboiled eggs with a dash of salt each, some muesli with yoghurt, a grilled sandwich with cheese and tomatoes, and of course coffee.  It was simple but delicious.

After checking some emails, I just laid in the sun for a while to figure out what I would do for the day.  Then Francesco said that there would be visit to Montaña Roja during the early afternoon with a visit to the beach as well.  That sounded like a pleasant way to spend the day so I readily agreed.  I also decided that I would make ratatouille over the weekend.

I got my things ready for the 15 minute walk to Los Abrigos where the closest supermarket is to pick up the ingredients and headed out.  It was about noon so the sun as shining down and there was not a cloud in the sky!  It definitely was hot but the exercise to Los Abrigos felt good.  It only took me about an hour to get everything done and be back at the hostel where I spent the rest of the time in the sun waiting to go.  Before I left, I did eat a couple plums I picked up at the store.

We left for the walk to Montaña Roja around 3 pm and it definitely was a nice walk.  The wind was picking up and when we got closer, the sand was blowing up and giving us free dermabrasion!  I feel like all the dead, dry skin has been exfoliated off my legs.  I wonder if that has been done for my face as well.  That certainly would be an added benefit!

Finally we were at the base of Montaña Roja and there was Playa de la Tajita.  It is a nudist beach and it isn't the first one I've been to here on Tenerife.  Actually a lot of the beaches here are clothing optional but there are specific because where they are nudist beaches.  After about an hour or so then we started our hike up to the top of Montaña Roja.

The walk up isn't difficult but there are lots of small pebbles so make sure you wear sensible shoes.  Also today the winds were very strong and it sometimes made walking even difficult.  I slipped on some loose rocks once but no serious damage occurred.  It didn't take us long to reach the top and the view definitely is spectacular!  Unfortunately, the wind was starting to dry out my eyes and my stomach was feeling upset as well so I decided to leave a bit early.
