Parc Güell and la Sagrada Família

There are several things that are on to do list while I am here in Barcelona: eat tapas, visit the Gothic Quarter, and see the works of Antoni Gaudií.  I was able visit two of Gaudí's famous works today.  Parc Güell and Basilica de la Sagrada Família.  I started the day off by figuring out the best way to route my day and figuring the Metro system.  The hostel staff told me which trains to take and showed me several stations that are close to the hostel.  I ended up taking the L3 and getting off at Vallcarca.  Once I was there, I just followed the signs on the street to the top of the park.  It is almost impossible to get lost.

*I bought the T-10 pass (10 tickets) for 8.25€ which I think is the most economical.  You can use this pass on the Metro, buses, and even the train to and from the airport!  One way train tickets from the airport are 3.15€ so you definitely get your money's worth, just be sure to leave one ride for your trip back to Barcelona El Prat Airport!

At the top of the park I was treated to a panoramic view of the city below.  I could see la Sagrada Família in the distance and a bunch of other landmarks of Barcelona.  I took my time to explore the park and admire the buildings inside the park.  There was also a Gaudií Museum although I did not go inside.

After the park, I hopped back on the Metro to head towards Basilica de la Sagrada Famiília.  To get there from Parc Güell, take the L3 in the direction of Zona Universitâria.  Get off at Diagonal and change to L5, go in the direction of Vall d'Hebron and get of all the Sagrada Família stop.  When you come out of the station, la Sagrada Famiília will be right there waiting for you!

After visiting these two places, I feel like that I have to stop for a while and just process what I have seen.  It isn't everyday that one can go to see a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  I'm pretty sure that both Parc Güell and la Sagrada Família have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites...so I just saw two in one day.  I think it is time for siesta to rest my brain.
