Meal Sized Apple Crisp Dessert at Cheesecake Factory

As my friends will tell you, I have a sweet tooth.  Ok perhaps one single sweet tooth might not be enough.  I have sweet teeth.  I absolutely adore sweet foods.  If I wasn't worried about getting diabetes or become overly obsess, I probably would just eat sweets for ever meal.  My all time favourite dessert is apple pie and any variation of apple pie.  Preferably with vanilla ice cream.  This is exactly what I had today.

I wanted to thank my friend for letting me stay with him plus driving me to and from San Francisco International Airport several times, I took him to the Cheesecake Factory here in San Jose.  I had a sudden craving for cheesecake.  It was close and I knew that the food was fairly reliable, but their selection of cheesecakes were amazing.  So many different ones to choose from with new selections all the time.

The first thing we did was to scout out all the cakes that were in their display fridge and "oohed" and "ahed" over the mouth watering (yet extremely fattening) goodies that awaited us while fighting indecision over which one to actually get.  After a short wait, we were escorted to our seats and there was a new insert menu, "SkinnyLicious".  I guess this is their new health conscious menu where entrees are under 600 calories so that people can later enjoy a slice of cheesecake that are 1300 calories per slice.  I don't know about you, but 1800 calorie meal is enough for a whole day for most people and to eat that in one meal?  I'll let you be the judge of that.

Since they had some vegetarian options, I opted for the vegetarian buyer which was pretty interesting.  The patty was made with brown rice, farro, fresh beets, and onions.  Slightly sweet from the beets (and red) but overall it was quite good.  I specifically ordered something small though I probably should have ordered off their "SkinnyLicious" menu since the waitress said the burger itself would have been smaller so I could eat dessert.

Tonight, none of the cheesecakes really stood out to me so I ordered apple crumble a la mode.  Little did I know what I was getting myself into.  The dessert came in an entree sized soup bowl!  I was so shocked I was speechless except to dumbly mumble thank you to the waitress.  Two scoops of ice cream and a heaping mound of whipping cream (which I never eat anyways) was on top.  The actual dessert was fantastic although it could feed a table of four if none of them ate any dinner.  I had three bites and promptly pushed the dish away.  I just couldn't eat any more no matter how great it tasted!

I wish I could have taken it home with me but since there was melting ice cream it would have looked like a disaster and I just left it there.  I was so full I could hardly walk out of the restaurant and I certainly had guilt afterwards.  Now I feel like I should have walked the mile and a half from the restaurant back to the house to work off at least some of the 2000 calories I ingested.  At least tomorrow I'll be flying to Paris, maybe I won't have to suffer through airplane food.
