What would it be like to be like to have dinner in a 1900s brothel?  With only the letters "h" and "o" on the illuminated neon sign of the historic Santa Cruz hotel attracting hungry diners into an all red den, the Red Restaurant & Bar reminds me of such a place.  If you ever visit, this is a must go not only for the cool setting, but for the amazing menu and drinks.  While the specials may change, some of their crowd pleasing dishes include: s'mac, a twist on a class mac 'n cheese; lil mac platter, three mini burgers each with a different flavour; or the panzanella salad, freshly made croutons, panzanella cheese, Spring mix, tomatoes, and red wine vinaigrette.

If you're not in the mood for a full meal but for drinks, move through the thick red velvet curtains and you will see the comfortable red bar.  The large lounge space has an area with comfortable seating to accommodate your larger parties and if you also wanted to have some finger foods.  Since I always stick to what I like to drink, I will leave it up to you to try their specialty drinks if you wish but I have been told that their Cool Hand Cuke and Mint Julep are quite delicious.  My friend an an Absolut Apple Martini and said it was definitely an 'adult' sized drink.
