One of the things that I promised Lennard that I would do while I was visiting him was to show him some photography techniques so today we took the day and went out shooting.  We talked about aperture, shutter speed, as well as how to design a photo.  Certain techniques that help to enhance a photo visually and then we put them into practice.  The day was perfect for a photo lesson too, the sun was bright and not a cloud in sight.  It was definitely a crash course but I'm confident that Lennard has some of the basics down.

I also had an opportunity to see some of the more interesting things of Papenburg that I wouldn't have discovered on my own: a huge crucifixion monument in the middle of the woods where people ride their horses, a small cross in the middle of a field, and a Jewish cemetery.  It will definitely make for some extremely interesting images!  We were also treated with a spectacular sunset and an opportunity to play with shutter speeds.  Well at least iPhone application version of shutter speeds and my Holga's bulb setting.  But since I normally shoot with film, we'll all have to wait until I return home to Vancouver to develop the film to see what the results will be.
